A vida mundana e pacata de Nin, proprietário de um café, é irremediavelmente destruída quando, uma noite, Ming, o seu filho de quinze anos, assassina a mãe e a irmã mais nova. Diagnosticado com esquizofrenia, Ming é internado indefinidamente numa prisão psiquiátrica. Para além das visitas quinzenais ao filho, Nin continua a levar uma existência monótona, enquanto as memórias da mulher, da filha e do próprio Ming regressam incessantemente à sua mente. Com o passar do tempo, Nin desiste de procurar uma explicação para a tragédia. Resta-lhe um desejo: que um dia Ming possa regressar a casa.
故事大綱
失去了家人的阮永年 (劉青雲飾) 如常回到茶餐廳開店，讓自己感覺一切依舊，他生活在回憶的日常裡…… 髮妻金燕 (谷祖琳飾) 準備早餐的廚房，兒子厚明 (蘇文濤飾) 玩網絡遊戲的電腦桌，女兒厚恩 (熊諾頤飾) 收養的三色貓「三花」，還有 一家人共晉晚餐的快樂谷茶餐廳，彷彿那一夜從未將一切吞噬。
血緣的摰親奪走了生命的摯愛，永年既無法憎恨生者，更無法忘記逝者，唯有回 憶與幻想相濡以沫，讓永年在迷茫的生活中找到一些真實感，縱與兒子一窗之隔 ，永年比以往更努力活得像一個「爸爸」。
父與子，這段窒息的關係會否迎來長夜盡頭，成為彼此活着的救贖?
Café owner Nin’s quiet but contented life is shattered when his fifteen-year-old son, Ming, brutally kills his mother and younger sister one evening. Diagnosed with acute schizophrenia, Ming is confined indefinitely to a psychiatric prison until he recovers. Aside from visiting his son twice a month, Nin carries on with a monotonous existence, haunted by memories of his wife, daughter, and the son who destroyed their lives. Over time, he abandons the search for an explanation. All he longs for is that, one day, Ming will come home again.
